The Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) is the largest international, not-for-profit association specifically for information security professionals. The ISSA-UK Chapter was founded in 2003 and has grown to become the world's largest ISSA Chapter having boarded over 1,700 members since it began.
In a Dragon's Den style event entitled "Security in the Spotlight", ten security software/solution vendors battled it out for the top award by delivering a 10 minute pitch to earn the votes of over 150 security professionals.
Spotlight companies included Qualys, Varonis, OpenDNS, Threatscape, Pen Test Partners, ITC, Menlo, Codenomicon and Harvey Nash. Pervade attended the event with strategic partner, leading international consulting group UKL.
The unique format gave delegates an opportunity to learn about existing and emerging technologies. Keynote talks, including one from Lord Erroll, Cross Bench Peer in the House of Lords and Secretary of the All Party Parliamentary Group on the Internet, provided a full day which was staged on HMS President, floating on the River Thames.
John Davies, Director of Sales & Marketing, who delivered the pitch said "This was a fast-paced and lively event in a terrific atmosphere. The ISSA members are all experienced security professionals and a demanding audience".
After the prize giving, John said "It was a very close call and we were delighted to be voted in second place. Qualys are one of our development partners so we really don't mind being pipped at the post by them".
